Today I am very happy to present part 1 of a 2 part interview with Mr. Clayton Lowe, Clay as we all know him in Columbus, Ohio. Clay has been an instrumental character and scholar in the local film groups and I find talking with Clay fascinating and very educational. Clay has taught in several departments at the Ohio State University, currently Emeritus Professor in the Theater Department, previously as Assistant Professor, and later chair of the Department of Photography and Cinema at OSU and so many other teaching positions at OSU and the University of Georgia School of Journalism. Clay has hosted many film series such as the David Cronenberg series of films contemplating the idea of Cronenberg's use of violence in cinema and many others. He has also done hundreds of film reviews for radio at WCBE here in Columbus, Ohio and been involved in several radio and television stations as Producer and Director.
Talking to Clay is always fun and informative and I always walk away from our conversations looking at some other aspect of film, art and philosophy. I really hope you enjoy this first part of the 2 part interview with Mr. Clay Lowe.
Clay can be found on FaceBook where he is quite active in keeping up with friends and fellow film and photography lovers. You can find him there under his name.
Enjoy, Sean McHenry

Hello and welcome to part 2 of our 2 part interview with John Whitney, another exceptional filmmaker from Ohio. John's recent release of his longest running film yet, "Eroded" was screened to a sold out theater at the Gateway FilmCenter on the OSU Campus here in Columbus, Ohio. John is a great example of the best ways to shoot a film and a great guy to work with and have a conversation about film with. John is one of the principals of Arbor Avenue Films here in Columbus, along with Phil Garrett and Sean Reid. Johns previous film, Measured Sacrifice is available to be viewed at : http://vimeo.com/8879281
John can also be contacted through the Arbor Avenue Films page on Facebook.
I have said this often and it is more true now than ever... if you have anything to do with film or video in this town, eventually we will all know each other. This is true of several of the fine folks John works with both in his professional day job as a DP/Shooter for a large furniture manufacturing company and in his avocational film work. John has really kept the bar high in the Central Ohio area for filmmakers, and we all love that.
The trailer for Eroded can be viewed here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=268328796208

Welcome back to Ohio Film Chatter. We've been away for a while but we're back with a new round of interviews with Ohio filmmakers and shakers. This episode deals with a gentleman who was very popular in the 1980s in the Central Ohio area for his often highly controversial Public Access television shows. He has been working on a film for many years and is here to talk about it with us. His art sense and interesting use of visuals allow him to create sometimes disturbing pieces that push and pull at the seams of the ever changing envelope. His latest piece, an art video piece titled "Checkmate". His DVD collection of "The Best of Damon Zex" available on Amazon(dot)com includes as bonus material this newly finished piece, "Checkmate". We saw the final version of Checkmate at a screening for Indie Club Columbus. It was lets say, a mixed crowd. Some enjoyed it and a few were unable to look at it objectively but I will say, for every question brought up in Q&A after it screened, Mr. Damon Zex was able to defend every aspect of the piece.
For those who may be unfamiliar with his work, please see the links below. Be aware that his works are not for all viewers, much as Robert Mapplethorpe or other controversial artists works are not always for all audiences. Whether you love him or can live without him, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Damon Zex.

Welcome back to Ohio Film Chatter and part 2 of the interview with one of the most bruised and banged up actors in the Central Ohio area, Bryan Michael Block. Bryan is the lead actor on the web based series Aidan 5 at, oddly enough, http://www.Aidan5.com. The web series comes out of the 2008 multi-award winning 48 Hour Film Project short Aidan 5. After winning multiple categories in the first ever Columbus 48HFP it went on to come in second runner up in the Miami International Film Festival and from there was invited to Cannes (Yes, THAT Cannes)
Now with added team members and a much expanded cast, Bryan is the lead actor playing James Aidan, a cloned detective. Bryan has also appeared in numerous projects for Room 101 Productions, Sonnyboo, and several others. Bryan is a Musician, Actor, Writer, Producer and Director and VP in a smaller strategic communications company. If you ever want to know what you should be doing on any given page of a feature script or want to talk character motivations and story arcs, Bryan is your guy.
This is the final part in the 2 part series with Bryan. Enjoy and feel free to leave comments on the series. Also, please spread the word about the podcast series. The more listeners the better.
